The right of inheritance. Episode number 2

 The right of inheritance.
 Episode number 2

When we started to leave there, the ASI said, Sir, the local people think that the girl has not committed suicide.  I asked him, "You don't mean that he committed suicide, that is, he was killed?"

No one has taken the name of the murderer, but everyone says that Zareena was not a suicidal girl.  When I asked him for details, he mentioned the names of a few neighbors of Chaudhry Abid.  While I was investigating inside, he was outside in the street chatting with his neighbors. Because this charge was serious, I thought it appropriate to talk to a half-neighbor.

Rana Ayub was a middle-aged man who seemed to be of good manners. However, I guessed that there was a lot of grudge in his heart for the Chaudhry brothers.  Answering my questions, he said that Zareena was not a crazy girl at all.
The two brothers admitted him to the mental hospital in Lahore about three years ago.  It was made known in the neighborhood that the girl has gone mad. She had returned three days ago and there was a quarrel going on in the house for three days.

I asked, if the girl was not crazy, why did they admit her to the insane asylum?  Thanedar sir, actually the whole cycle belongs to the property, replied Rana Ayub.  As long as his mother was alive, everything was fine.
After mother's death, brothers and sisters-in-law started forcing Zareena.  That in any way he should give up the right to the property, but the girl was sensible and quick.  In particular, she was very quick of tongue, she said that whatever happens, she will never give up her right.  I asked the next question, was the girl literate?
He said yes, ten classes were studied, so I asked him.  So tell me why these people had not married her yet.  He replied that it was the same property problem sir, actually the brother wanted to get the girl to write a written document before marriage.  But the girl was not ready. We also heard that the girl whom she loved drowned in the river.

I kept thinking that this matter seems very deep. I asked what was the name of this person..?  Emphasizing on his mind, he said, "What was his name? Sir, I think I have forgotten it."  Yes, remember Sajid Yasir Faraz, his father also has a pottery shop in Main Bazaar.

As you have told me the girl came back three days ago.  Did someone go to get Zarina or did she come back by herself?
I don't know, none of the brothers had gone. I can't say if uncle or uncle had gone.  During these three days, they neither allowed the girl to go out nor to meet any neighbour.  My daughter Hamida went to meet him but Ashraf's wife turned her away from the door.

She said that Zarina's health is not good, but Khokhar Sahib lives at the back.  His wife also went to meet Zareena, but the family did not allow her to meet.  How did you come to know that there was a quarrel going on in the house since Zareena came back?  Sir, the house is connected to the house.

What was the dispute about?  In response to my question, he said that the sounds of quarreling were definitely heard.  But we never listened here. My wife was telling us that the quarrel was actually about the property.

Rana Ayub was a reasonable man who could not tell such a big lie or Zarina really committed suicide because of these quarrels.  Or else he was murdered, in view of this situation it became very necessary to conduct a post-mortem.

I sent a message to the official doctor to do the post-mortem before morning.  So that there is no difficulty in referring the body to the heirs later.
The next morning when I reached the police station, I saw that the Chaudhry brothers were walking outside very anxiously.  There were half a dozen other people with them. Both brothers saw me and rushed towards me.  Chaudhry Ashraf restrained his anger and thundered, Thanedar Sahib!  By promising us, you sent a message here, it is called complete cheating.  I stared at him with hard eyes and said what kind of promise and what message are you talking about?

Now don't be so forgetful, remember that doctor is sharpening knives there.  If he even touched the body of our deceased sister, we will destroy the police station brick by brick.  He had not finished speaking yet, I grabbed him by the collar and pulled him towards me.  Tell me, how many bricks has he played before?

I was going to say something more to him when the elder brother quickly came in the middle and started saying.  Please forgive me Malik Sir, please forgive me. Young blood is not easy to get excited.  You don't know more about the law than me. Yesterday you tried to trick me.  I added while continuing the conversation while the main point was rounded.

What is the real thing, Malik Sahib, we had told you everything, Chaudhry Abid said.  Yes, I told you everything, but why didn't you tell me about the property, I said.  And he didn't even tell that you were fighting with your sister for three days.
I took them inside the police station and told them after sitting in the head clerk's room.  Both of you sit here, I finished talking to you, but Chaudhry Ashraf started to stiffen.  He said under which law are you keeping us here?

Chaudhry Abid said that in such a long time, the doctor will do his work, so allow us to pick up the dead body.  After finishing the funeral work, we will come to you by ourselves.  I told them to stop and went to my room and went inside and called a Havaldar and told him.

No one could stop the two chaudris sitting in the head clerk's room.  If they want to go, they should go, but I am too busy not to let them come to me.  After which I sent a man to the mortuary with the message that there should be no delay in the post-mortem of the deceased.

After a while the elder brother left while the younger brother kept making noise in the police station but no one allowed him to reach me.  About an hour and a half later, the initial post-mortem report was received.  A surprising revelation from this report was that the girl was four months pregnant.
